CARRAGEENAN
Carrageenan is an Hydrocolloid extracted from seaweeds of Rodoficee family and mainly from: Chondrus crispus, Euchema cottonii, Euchema spinosum and, in limited quantities, Furcellaria fastigiata.

Carrageenan is scheduled in the European list of food additives as: E407.
In connection with the type of seaweeds as well as the method of extraction, the most important kinds of carrageenans that can be obtain are three:
KAPPA CARRAGEENANS, IOTA CARRAGEENANS and LAMBA CARRAGEENANS.

Setexam for all the Agar agar varieties and Unipektin AG for all the Galattomannans (Locust bean gum, Guar gum and Tara gum) are two actual examples of high quality companies represented in Italy by G.T.C.; all of them are ISO 9000 certified, very active in the applied research, they all meet the high quality of their products with an optimal application technology.

Kappa carrageenans are the most diffused and they are available for water or milk solution, also considering the great diffusion that carrageenans have into formulations for milk based products (i.e. ice-cream).
